Blue squares

Wow...last day off winter already! The year has gone too fast, but bring on spring I love jeans and t.shirt weather. This is my latest quilt that I finished the other week. My first queen size quilt I've ever made from start to finish. I mean the whole deal, quilt top, wadding, backing, binding and the quilting part. My hand stitching flower one is talking so long i thought I'd whip one up on the sewing machine that I can enjoy while I probably take another year to finish the other one. For a piece of fabric to make it's way into this quilt it just had to have some kind of blue in it, it's nearly all vintage fabric and some of the boys old t.shirts.

A little change

Gee it's been a while....
So I finally got a bike! After about a year of searching ebay for a nice vintage bike that goes good, I got a new one after all. You wouldn't believe it but a nice vintage bike is worth at least four times the amount of a new one. I saw this display bike reduced for the biggest bargain, so I grabbed it and wheeled it straight up to the counter. And it's even the colour I wanted.
Libby and I have been cruising around town, she loves it on the back in the baby bike seat. It brings me back to being a teenager, oh the memories of having no license.
And I found the basket at the oppshop, just have to work out how to attatch it.
iSplash is great fun.

What I'm reading...Since reading the first chapter I was so inspired, I've cleaned out all our wardrobes and have filled loads of garbage bags full of stuff to get rid of. It feels good.

Material and a computer

My material now has a new home, the old one was getting abit small. 98% of it is all from the oppshop. Have you ever heard that saying ' the one who dies with the most material is the winner'? Well I think I would be in the running.

And we got a new computer, gotta love tax time. So we are now Mac people. Now I just have to learn how to use the thing. Maybe I'll learn how to do video editing, so I could finally put our wedding onto dvd to watch. It's only been 6 years. Oh that was the greatest day.

Hope your having a great week.

Today

My man was off at a men's conference today, so the kids and I hit the oppshops (the 2 we have in town). I found this rad green chair that reclines, and it was clean and not smelly. Managed to squeeze it in the van, and then squeeze it in the loungeroom, gave it a test run, then went to the park for lunch.

I also got an old diary from 1990 which had heaps of cool old school pictures in it. So I cut them all out and are decided what I'm going to do with them. Maybe a heartwork.... any ideas?

The kids are now eating tea. And when my amazing husband gets home we are going to see a high school production of Jesus Christ Superstar. And we personally know Jesus.

New bed

Anyone been watching the block? I really liked this room.
Last week we went to Melbourne and picked up our new bed (new to us) that I won on ebay a couple of weeks ago. It looks exactly the same as this one. It's a nice change compared to our massive timber one and fits better in our tiny bedroom.

Out Bush

This week we had a whole day at the bush, we love it out here. Chillin out around the fire, it's so relxaing. The kids always love it too, and there seems to be less fighting and sooking, it must be all the space and fresh air.

Little Miss thinks she's cool when she wears my glasses.

The never ending quilt

I can finally sew again with my black thumb! I have missed it the last couple of weeks. Yes were still on the floor but it really doesn't bother us. So I put my quilt on the bed the other day to see how far I have to go, it finally covers the bed! It's been 7 months of sewing almost every day except for the past couple of weeks. It still needs another row of flowers on each edge but the finish line is in sight. I've spent so many hours stitching away, that I think if my house was burning down and I could only grab a few things, this quilt would probably be one of them.

Splatter Art

Last night I went and helped teach an art class, we got the kids to draw an image over the top of a coloured splatter, some of the pictures had a couple of different coloured splatters which looked really cool, after helping the kids I quickly did one, so this is mine.

Today at the oppshops...

I found so many great things at the oppshops today, the jeans look brand new and the quilt is amazing and was only $6!! I also found a little white board in a chunky wooden frame which I am about to paint and a few things to start off my second hand Christmas present collection. (Sisters, don't worry, I won't give our side of the family oppshop presents)

Just about every time I have the camera out one of the kids are in front of it..........at least they're cute.

Little getaway

On monday my husband and I went on a little getaway to the city for a night for his birthday. On the way I slammed my thumb in the car door, I am so retarded, I'm still not quite sure how I did it. I can't remember ever being in that much pain in my whole life, I've had 3 babies with no pain killers and didn't even shed a tear. But this....man the tears were flowing. Anyway other than that we had such a great time, it was so nice to spent whole days together, we wondered the city, stayed in a nice motel, had a buffet dinner at crown and went to the movies.

Above is Brother Baba Budan, it's suppose to be the best coffee in Melb, so we went to check it out. And I must say it was very nice coffee, it was the tiniest busiest cafe I've ever been in and I liked looking at all the vintage chairs hanging from the roof with all the lights tangled through them. My favourite thing about the city is watching all the weird people around and listening to the buskers as you walk by. But I am very glad and proud to be a country girl.

Handmade Beanbag

Since I can ever remember I've loved beanbags, I bought my first one when I was about 12 or 13 from my paper round money. And ever since then I always thought it would be cool to make one, but I never knew how or where to get a pattern from. The other week I bought Pip Linclones latest book, Sew La Tea Do and it came with the instructions and the pattern! I made this one out of some old vintage table cloths I had in the cupboard that didn't fit our table. I was very surprised when it actually turned out the way it was suppose to, I even sewed my first zip and it worked!
